A Family Advent - Week 4

Scripture: When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord had made known to us. Luke 2: 15

Devotional: Mary and Joseph are in the stable. Angels have told the shepherds where to look for them. They know that it is God who has given them the news and sends them to Bethlehem. While we have been preparing our hearts for Christmas, God has been leading us, guiding us to the true meaning of Christmas - that he has come into the world in Jesus to be with us -- to be close to us. God will help us to see and to hear what we need to see and hear this Christmas.

Candles: Light all four candles of the Advent Wreath.

Sing: “Silent Night, Holy Night”
Silent Night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin, mother and child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent Night, holy night, shepherds quake at the sight;
glories stream from heaven afar,
heavenly host sing Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born, Christ the Savior is Born.

Prayer: Dear God, help us to wait for what you will show us this Advent. Help us to see that you are with us. Guide us by your holy light to that place where we take Jesus into our hearts. Help us to notice those around us who may be bearers of your light to us. Help us to be the bearer of your good news to others. In your ever-present love, we pray. Amen
